Healers have always recognized inflammation as a part of the healing process and its contribution to the body's overall health is without question. But, when inflammation is not well controlled or well contained, it can also be the cause of the pathology in many diseases. Inflammation is incredibly complex as is the immune system’s initial response to tissue damage or infection.
Inflammation is on a continuum from mild to severe. Mild inflammation increases blood flow to the injured or infected area, attracts the immune cells that fight pathogens, clean up cellular debris, and stimulate healing and repair of the tissues that can be healed and repaired, or the replacement of those that cannot be healed and repaired. Severe inflammation is supposed to be restricted to more significant and potentially overwhelming pathogenic invasions, but it can also occur from mismanagement of the inflammatory mechanisms. It is the mismanaged of inflammation, whether associated with a pathogen or not, that results in chronic and degenerative diseases, like the neural dysfunction in MS, Parkinson’s disease, and Alzheimer’s disease, plaquing of the artery wall in atherosclerosis, scarring of the bronchial wall in asthma and chronic bronchitis, chronic kidney disease, inflammatory bowel disease, diabetes, obesity, and the destruction of joints in arthritis.
Inflammatory processes involve the major cells of the immune system, neutrophils, basophils, mast cells, T-cells, B-cells, and others. Different inflammatory lesions can have specific and different immune cells.
The inflammatory process is regulated in such a way that only the appropriate immune cells are recruited for this variety of inflammatory lesions. The inflammatory processes are controlled by the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) within each type of immune cell and include endocannabinoids and their receptors, enzymes, ionic metals, and a large array of extracellular mediators and regulators, including cytokines, growth factors, eicosanoids, complement and peptides. These mediators and regulators can be assembled and disassembled in an almost unlimited number of combinations depending on where in the continuum of inflammation they are, what initiated the inflammation, and what tissues and organs are involved, and on whether the inflammation is resolving or non-resolving.
Cells communicate with each other by using cellular communication chemicals called exosomes. When cells and tissues are injured or dysfunctional, they use these exosomes to communicate the extent of their injuries to the body’s repair cells – mast cells. Mast cells, after receiving the message, construct the healing and repair exosomes that the injured tissues need. Your own native Mast cells can be degraded by time, disease, and environmental contaminants, which can leave them less able to repair you when you need it.
MSC exosomes are those same healing, repair, and replacement chemicals, but these have been extracted from donated umbilical cords from live births and are not degraded by anything.
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a non-mind altering plant substance that is extracted from the hemp plant. It is not marijuana. CBD helps attract mast cells to injured tissues, and helps them reestablish homeostasis and functional tone which, in turn, can help them construct their healing and repair exosomes. CBD is a powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, helping the body overcome the two most common impediments to healing – inflammation and oxidizing damage.
LI-ESWT creates pressure waves within injured cells causing them to construct the messenger exosomes that they send to mast cells requesting help in healing and repair. LI-ESWT is anti-inflammatory, promotes tissue healing, reduces swelling, relieves pain, and improves circulation.
Understanding inflammation is more critical now than ever before because of the nearly epidemic increase in chronic and degenerative diseases that have been associated with non-resolving inflammation. Non-resolving inflammation results from the loss of regulatory control by the immune cell’s ECS and can last a lifetime. We need to look at non-resolving inflammation differently than we have so far. Up to now, we have looked at it as an entity and not as an aberrant regulatory mechanism. We have treated the inflammation and wondered why it comes back when medications are stopped. It comes back because inflammation is the product of the disorder and not the disorder itself. The disorder is in the regulatory mechanisms that produce and control inflammation and can only be resolved by reestablishing regulatory control.
Regulatory control is maintained by the ECS, and the ECS’s health is critical to our understanding of the very essence of disease. The ECS’s regulatory dysfunction can be genetic or acquired by disease, drugs, chemical pollutants and contaminants, and age.
Dynamic Regenerative Care is an innovator in Regenerative medicine, combining Mesenchymal Stem Cell Exosomes (MSC-Ex), the latest in cutting edge biotech, with research-backed, healing, pain relieving, and restorative capabilities of Low-Intensity Extracorporeal Shockwave Treatment (LI-ESWT). From Non-resolving inflammation, joint and soft tissue pain and injury, to loss of gut integrity, and even degenerative issues, help may come in the form of stimulating the body’s own natural healing and regulatory processes on a cellular level.
